Question 1

What is MetreMate?

Accepted Answer

MetreMate is a browser-based tool that lets you measure construction PDF plans (lengths, areas, perimeters, and counts) without any downloads or installations.

Question 2

Do I need to install anything?

Accepted Answer

No. MetreMate runs entirely in your web browser. Just sign up, upload a plan, and start measuring.

Question 3

Is there a free plan?

Accepted Answer

Yes. MetreMate offers a free plan with limited projects so you can try it before committing. No credit card required.

Question 4

What file types can I upload?

Accepted Answer

MetreMate supports PDF plans. Upload your architectural, structural, or site plans and start measuring immediately.

Question 5

How do I set the scale on my plan?

Accepted Answer

Use Manual Scaling: click two points on your plan where you know the real-world distance, enter that distance, and MetreMate sets the scale for everything automatically.

Question 6

Can MetreMate detect the scale automatically?

Accepted Answer

MetreMate can suggest scale values based on text found in your PDF. You can accept a suggestion or set the scale manually for full control.

Question 7

What if my plan doesn't have a scale bar?

Accepted Answer

That is fine. Use any known dimension on the plan, such as a door width, a room length, or a grid spacing, to set the scale manually.

Question 8

What is snapping?

Accepted Answer

Snapping automatically locks your cursor to endpoints, corners, and intersections on both your markups and the PDF content itself. This makes measurements faster and more accurate.

Question 9

How accurate are the measurements?

Accepted Answer

Measurements are as accurate as the manual scaling and the precision of the original plan. MetreMate has fixed high-DPR display errors and includes endpoint snapping for pixel-perfect accuracy.

Question 10

Can I snap to existing markups?

Accepted Answer

Yes. MetreMate snaps to your existing markup endpoints as well as detected PDF content like corners and intersections.

Question 11

What can I measure?

Accepted Answer

Lengths (linear), areas (polygons), perimeters, and counts. Perfect for takeoffs, quoting, and site planning.

Question 12

Can I organise my measurements?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Use layers to group, name, and colour-code your measurements. The details panel shows values and lets you manage everything easily.

Question 13

Can I export my measurements?

Accepted Answer

Export functionality is on our roadmap. For now, you can view all measurement values in the layers panel.
