How do you measure cladding from plans?

Cladding comes off the elevations. Set the scale, trace each facade area in square metres, deduct the openings, then convert to board lineal metres using your board cover and add wastage. MetreMate totals the deducted area for every elevation.

How many lineal metres of cladding do I need from a plan?

How do I convert facade area to weatherboard lineal metres?

Accepted Answer

Divide the deducted facade area by your board cover, the effective face height once the lap is taken off. A 180mm board with a 30mm lap covers about 150mm, so one square metre needs roughly 6.7 lineal metres. How much wastage should I add for cladding?

Allow around 10 percent on a simple rectangular facade and 15 percent or more where there are many openings, angles or short runs that force offcuts. Measure the real elevation areas in MetreMate first, then apply the wastage that suits the facade before converting to boards or sheets.

How do I measure corner, trim and flashing for cladding?

Measure the external and internal corners, window trims and base and head flashings as lineal metre runs with the measure tool. MetreMate totals each run separately, so your soaker flashings, corner soakers and trim boards are ordered to match the facade area you have quoted.
