What is snapping?
Snapping automatically locks your cursor to specific points such as endpoints, corners, and intersections on both your markups and the PDF content itself.
When to use snapping
- Measuring along walls and edges because snap points help you land on exact corners.
- Connecting to existing markups because snapping reduces gaps and drift between measurements.
- Complex shapes because intersections are easier to hit reliably.
When freehand works
- Quick rough measurements when exact precision is not critical.
- Areas with no clear snap points such as organic shapes or messy sketches.
- Site sketches where the PDF content does not have clean geometry.
Best practice
Start with snapping enabled. If nearby snap points are getting in the way, disable snapping temporarily for that one measurement and turn it back on when you need precision again.
