How to shade areas with Fill and Polygon Fill

1 min read Updated

Fill shades rooms and zones in color so scope stands out on a busy plan. Pick a color and opacity from Fill in the toolbar. Polygon Fill shades a shape you click out yourself, for zones with odd or angled edges. Fills can be recolored or cleared later.

Shade a shape

  1. 1Select the shape you want to shade, such as an area you have measured.
  2. 2Open Fill in the toolbar.
  3. 3Pick a color and set the opacity so the plan still shows through.
Fill: pick a color, then set the opacity.

Shade your own shape with Polygon Fill

  1. 1Choose Polygon Fill in the tool list.
  2. 2Click around the outline of the zone, point by point.
  3. 3Close the shape to shade it.

Tips

  • Use one color per trade or stage so the plan explains itself.
  • Fills print and export with the plan unless you hide them.
  • Shading does not change any measurement underneath it.
