No credit card needed. Free plan to start, works on Windows and Mac.

Why decking suppliers choose MetreMate
Decking Suppliers use MetreMate to turn a contractor's PDF deck plans into a decking quote. Your counter staff trace the deck for square feet and measure joists, beams, fascia and railing in linear feet. MetreMate gives you the area, then you apply your board width and gap: a 5-1/2 in board at a 1/8 in gap is 2.13 linear feet per square foot. It runs in any modern browser on a Windows or Mac computer, with nothing to install.
Quote in minutes, not hours
Set the scale once and measure straight off the PDF. Your first measurement takes under 90 seconds, and it's free to start.

The slow way, or the smart way
What changes when decking suppliers measure in MetreMate instead of off a printout.
Without MetreMate
- Composite quotes where being 10 boards off is real money
- Converting square feet to linear feet by hand for every board width
- Railing, fascia and fasteners left off, then added as an awkward second quote
With MetreMate
- Area for deck surfaces and landings in square feet
- Measure for joists, beams, fascia and railing in linear feet
- Count for posts, stair treads and footings
- Layers to keep decking, framing and railing separate on one plan

Step by step
How decking suppliers use MetreMate
- 1
Square feet to linear feet
Trace the deck surface for square footage. MetreMate gives you the square feet, then you divide 12 by the board width plus the gap. A 5-1/2 in board at a 1/8 in gap is 12 / 5.625 = 2.13 linear feet per sq ft before waste. Use your manufacturer's gap.
- 2
Framing at 16 in or 12 in O.C.
Measure beams and joists in linear feet off the framing plan, and count joists at 16 in O.C. for composite laid straight or 12 in O.C. for a 45 degree diagonal. The decking manufacturer's install guide governs the spacing you quote.
- 3
Railing, fascia and stairs
Measure railing runs and fascia in linear feet, count posts and stair treads, and keep each on its own layer. Railing, fascia, stairs and fasteners go on the first quote instead of a second one.
