Why concrete contractors choose MetreMate

Concrete contractors use MetreMate to take off slabs, flatwork and footings from PDF plans and blueprints. Trace each slab for square feet, run footings, curbs and form lines in linear feet, and count piers and pads. MetreMate gives you the square footage, then you apply your thickness to get cubic yards for the ready-mix order. It runs in any modern browser on a Windows or Mac computer, with nothing to install.

The slow way, or the smart way

What changes when concrete contractors measure in MetreMate instead of off a printout.

Without MetreMate

  • Ordering a yard short and paying for a short load to finish the pour
  • Working out an L-shaped driveway with a tape, a sketch and a calculator
  • Footing runs scaled off a reduced set with the wrong scale

With MetreMate

  • Area tool for slabs and flatwork of any shape, in sq ft
  • Perimeter for form boards and expansion joint in linear feet
  • Measure (length) for footings, grade beams and curbs
  • Count for piers, pads and post bases, organized on Layers per pour

Step by step

How concrete contractors use MetreMate

  1. 1

    Flatwork square footage

Trace driveways, sidewalks, patios and garage or basement slabs with the Area tool, odd shapes and all. Each pour gets its own square footage, so an L-shaped driveway is one trace instead of three rectangles and a guess.

  2. 2

Footings and forms in linear feet

Run the Measure tool along footings, grade beams and curbs, and use Perimeter on each slab for form boards and expansion joint. Count piers and pads as you go. Rebar goes by the linear foot and wire mesh by the square foot, straight from the same takeoff.

  3. 3

    From square feet to yards

MetreMate gives you the square feet off the plan, then you apply your thickness: sq ft x (thickness in inches / 12) / 27 = cubic yards. Add your over-order, round up, and call the plant with a number you can back up.
